Run `/octo:guide` or `/octo:auto help` to browse\nthe commands in your installed version. Neither starts a provider workflow.\n\nOctopus records non-secret install metadata for each host. Claude Code and\nCodex keep separate entries, so switching hosts or updating one cache does not\nmake the other look current. SessionStart refreshes the active host entry when\nthe loaded root, version, scope, or profile changes.\n\n```bash\noctopus capabilities --json # provider readiness and supported interfaces\noctopus doctor installation # loaded root, stable root, and saved metadata\noctopus cache-check --json # active, newest, stale, and stable plugin roots\noctopus repair --dry-run # explain a broken or stale stable link\noctopus repair --apply # repair that link and refresh install metadata\noctopus security-audit --json # offline checks of the installed plugin files\noctopus handoff export --json # redacted checkpoint for another supported host\n```\n\n`repair --apply` changes only the Octopus-owned stable plugin root and install\nmetadata. On platforms without symlink support, the stable root contains\ngenerated wrappers for Octopus script entry points. Repair does not delete host\ncaches. The security audit checks the plugin itself; use `/octo:security` when\nyou want a multi-model review of your project.\n\nThe `core` context profile keeps optional context hooks off. Use\n`octopus profile orchestration` to enable context reinforcement and post-tool\ncoordination during active Octopus workflows, or `octopus profile full` to\nallow every profile-managed context hook. Profiles never disable safety or\nlifecycle hooks.\nSee [installation health](docs/INSTALLATION-HEALTH.md) for exit codes and stored\nstate.\n\nClaude Code **v2.1.14+** is the minimum supported runtime. Newer Claude Code releases unlock additional Octopus diagnostics and release checks automatically; the current plugin tracks 183 Claude Code capability flags through **Claude Code v2.1.219**.\n\n<details>\n
Install for Codex CLI
\n\n```bash\ncodex plugin marketplace add https://github.com/nyldn/plugins.git\ncodex plugin add claude-octopus@nyldn-plugins\n```\n\nRestart Codex. Skills appear automatically — invoke with `$skill-doctor`, `$skill-debug`, etc.\n\nSee [plugin compatibility](docs/PLUGIN-COMPATIBILITY.md) for invocation policy,\nhook trust, and the distinction between local Codex support and public-directory\nsubmission.\n\nCodex owns the versioned cache. To refresh an existing installation without\nediting cache files or symlinks directly, exit Codex and run these commands in\na separate terminal:\n\n```bash\ncodex plugin marketplace upgrade nyldn-plugins\ncodex plugin add claude-octopus@nyldn-plugins\n```\n\nRestart Codex after the update. Replacing the cache from the session that is\nusing it can leave hooks and skills bound to a removed version directory.\n\n</details>\n\n<details>\n
Install for Cursor IDE
\n\nCursor uses Octopus as an **MCP server** (not a plugin — Cursor doesn't have Claude Code's plugin system). You get MCP tools like `octopus_discover`, `octopus_review`, etc. instead of `/octo:*` slash commands.\n\n> **Important:** Just cloning the repo is not enough. You must complete all three steps below — install dependencies and configure the MCP server — for Cursor to pick up Octopus tools.\n\n```bash\n\n---\n\n# 2. Install MCP server dependencies\ncd ~/.cursor/claude-octopus/mcp-server && npm install\n\n---\n\n## License\n\nMIT — see [LICENSE](LICENSE)\n\n
\n  nyldn | MIT License | r/ClaudeOctopus | Report Issues\n
","github_created_at":"2026-01-15T08:49:38+00:00","created_at":"2026-07-15T11:16:59.321773+00:00","updated_at":"2026-09-20T05:14:13.021468+00:00","categories":[{"slug":"ai-agents","name":"AI Agents","url":"https://www.graphcanon.com/categories/ai-agents","markdown_url":"https://www.graphcanon.com/categories/ai-agents.md","api_url":"https://www.graphcanon.com/api/graphcanon/categories/ai-agents"},{"slug":"developer-tools","name":"Developer Tools","url":"https://www.graphcanon.com/categories/developer-tools","markdown_url":"https://www.graphcanon.com/categories/developer-tools.md","api_url":"https://www.graphcanon.com/api/graphcanon/categories/developer-tools"}],"tags":[{"slug":"ai-agents","name":"ai-agents"},{"slug":"ai-orchestration","name":"ai-orchestration"},{"slug":"claude-code","name":"claude-code"},{"slug":"codex","name":"codex"},{"slug":"copilot","name":"copilot"},{"slug":"multi-ai","name":"multi-ai"},{"slug":"multi-llm","name":"multi-llm"}],"trust":{"provenance":{"is_fork":false,"github_id":1134819911,"owner_type":"User","methodology":"github_public_v1","parent_repo":null,"near_duplicate_slugs":[]},"computed_at":"2026-09-20T05:14:10.749Z","maintenance":{"label":"Very active","score":96,"methodology":"github_public_v1","releases_90d":30,"days_since_push":0,"last_release_at":"2026-09-19T07:06:17Z","stars_delta_30d":128,"open_issues_delta_30d":-2},"security_summary":{"status":"no_lockfile","scanner":null,"low_count":0,"high_count":0,"last_scan_at":"2026-07-15T11:17:00.774Z","medium_count":0,"scan_profile":"none","critical_count":0}},"capability_facts":{"mcp":{"source":"repo_scan","observed_at":"2026-09-20T05:14:12.233Z","server_manifest":false},"scan":{"source":"repo_scan","observed_at":"2026-09-20T05:14:12.233Z"},"languages":{"value":["shell","javascript"],"source":"github.language+package.json","observed_at":"2026-09-20T05:14:12.233Z"},"license_spdx":{"value":"MIT","source":"github.license","observed_at":"2026-09-20T05:14:12.233Z"}},"decision_facts":{"hosting":null,"pricing":null,"requirements":null,"constraints":null,"when_to_use":["Need orchestration of multiple AI models specifically for research, design, or coding tasks","Targeting resolution of AI blindspots before product release"],"when_not_to_use":["Only require a single AI model for your project needs","Looking for solutions that do not involve shell-based scripting environments"],"source":"enrich:decision_facts","observed_at":"2026-07-17T09:18:16.825Z"},"constraint_facets":null,"decision_summary":[{"label":"Adopt for","value":"Orchestrates up to eight AI models for tasks in research, design, coding."}]}}
